Matt,

Happy missives to you! Smile

OK, so I was carrying around a bunch of objects (like a certain recipe, and two other items that I guess I really don't need anymore). I had just recently picked them up from one of my properties, where I tend to stash items I think I'm done with, but about which I'm never quite sure. This was maybe a week or two ago, so at that point, the items were behaving as I expected them to do. I could TAKE them, and LOOK AT them, if that were an appropriate option, and of course DROP any of them again as desired.

Well earlier tonight, I went to the Starbucks at (110,119), and dropped a bunch of items for reasons that I guess aren't really pertinent to this discussion. Then I went to pick up everything I had dropped, and got most of it picked up off the floor, but not all of it. The above-mentioned items no longer have the TAKE option available to them (although I can still LOOK AT two of them).

I'm wondering whether you may have possibly tweaked the Quests to which each of those items belongs to, such that when one *now* DROPs certain items (instances), its object type changes from one with a weight value > 0 (allowing for it to be TAKEn), to one with a weight of 0, disallowing those same items/instances from being TAKEn anymore.

In a nutshell, I used to be able to move items around, even after I had completed their corresponding Quests and no longer needed them. Now I'm finding some stay glued to a square, all permanent-like.

I thought it may have been a bug with the Quest related to the one square where my recipe is trapped, but the more I look at theoriginalsteve's code for it, the more I'm swayed into thinking it's the attributes of those particular items themselves that are changing in nature behind the scenes.

Could you kindly let me know whether I ran into a bug, or whether the current situation is as intended? When you of course have the chance, por favor? Smile

Many, Many Thanks,

Oh it's undoubtedly a silly bug and I think you've deduced the cause (weight!!) I will have to take a look. I owe Investec a look at one of his quests too. (sigh)

If any of the possible bugs pertain to any Quests that I have completed (I'm not 100% which ones at this point, but I'm thinking you can easily look that up), feel free to email me the .XML for them.

I wouldn't mind trying to lend a hand, since you're busy with so many other things. And it would certainly help me get that much more up-to-speed on Quest-making by poring over the code, regardless of whether I spot the bugs or not.

I learned a good deal just by playing around with and studying theoriginalsteve's first draft of that stumpy Starbucks Quest. Reading your notes about what bugs you found in his original draft also helped me get a better handle on the do's and don'ts.

Thanks!

I don't have the quest in it's original form unfortunately so I can't send you the xml. I'm looking at it tonight though so I'll let you know when I've sorted your problem and if you were right.

Matt.
